Olive Producers North East Victoria, (OPNEV) takes great pleasure in inviting you and your olive grove to participate in the annual Australian Golden Olive Awards.

The Australian Golden Olive Awards was one of the earliest shows in Australia.

OPNEV, whilst being a regional association, is keen to promote olive products Australia-wide for the mutual benefit of all industry stakeholders, whether they be large companies or the smaller family businesses. We believe it is important to encourage the continuing development of olive products across our continent and to provide a vehicle whereby the best extra virgin olive oils and table olives in our industry are given due acknowledgement and public profile.

This prestigious Australia wide competition for Extra Virgin Olive Oils and Table Olives allows participants from every state and territory all over Australia to benchmark their products against the very best. This economically viable olive show, is held in high regard by the industry, the Australian Golden Olive Awards also provides Free Fatty Acid and Peroxide testing on your olive oils from fully accredited laboratories, with results provided to you. The testing on your olive oils allows you to seek accreditation from the Australian Olive Association (AOA) for their Australian EVOO logos, and you can also use the results to enter other olive oil shows.

Olive producers, like all others engaged in agricultural pursuits face varied conditions each season, across all regions. In the past olive producers have experienced a wetter than usual season, which has impacted yields, but not the quality resulting in many medals warded.

This year 2024 will see a major shortage of extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) in Australia and the world as the wholesale price for evoo has doubled and many Australian producers are exporting their EVOO overseas. With this in mind, olive producers that supply the Australian market / consumer with some of the best extra virgin olive oils grown in Australia, it is exceptionally important to have your extra virgin olive oils tested and certified as meeting the Australian Standards for Extra Virgin Olive Oil. By entering the Australian Golden Olive Awards your olive oils will be tested and if deemed to be extra virgin olive oils will receive written certification and possibly awarded a Bronze, Silver or Gold Award as per the judging.

We encourage you to participate in this exciting competition and benchmark your products against the best in this nation of ours. I look forward to catching up with many of you at the annual presentation dinner held late August / September each year.
