The development of the Australian Golden Olive Awards began with a small group who wanted to expand their understanding of the oils they produced. Chemical and sensory testing was carried out and the first of the celebrations began.
The Awards grew and became available to all Australian Olive producers offering the opportunity for their oils to be assessed by an International Olive Council accredited laboratory and organoleptic (sensory) panel. Table Olives are tested by a NATA accredited laboratory and sensory evaluation by Professor Stan Kailis in accordance with Australian Olive Association standards.
All chemistry and sensory data becomes the property of the participant and can be used for other shows and for AOA Code of Practice.
